What I never ever expected was a bride to be calling me ONE day before the time to book me to shoot her wedding! But that’s not the craziest of it all… her entire wedding was planned one day prior. Now if that’s not spontaneous then smack me silly and call me Bob! What amazed me most though, was how beautiful and well planned the whole wedding was… despite it only being planned a day in advance! For that I take my “proverbial hat” off to Michelle, for not only being super woman, but pulling off a stunning wedding!

I love all my brides… Each and every one of them are special and hold a dear place in my heart. Daniela however… is so dear to me that I can’t help but fight back the tears while writing this.

Daniela emailed me for the first time about two years ago. I had just started my business. I was new, my work was mediocre at best and I was really just an amateur hopeful rookie photographer with my head in the clouds and big dreams. Daniela believed in me then already…

She emailed me one day to let me know that she had been following my work since my very first post and that she knew without a doubt that when she got married one day, I would shoot her wedding. She pops into my inbox from time to time and I must admit that on days when I’m feeling a little less that happy her emails of encouragement, excitement and  support bring a smile to my face.

I was very nervous shooting this wedding because I didn’t want to disappoint her in anyway… I recieved the most beautiful email from her on Monday, thanking me for capturing her day. (She hadn’t even seen her photos yet)

Dane and Daniela… it was my privilege and an honour to have been asked to capture your wedding. I wish you all the love and happiness you can both handle and may God continue to bless you on your new journey as husband and wife.

Thousands, millions and billion apologies for only doing this blog post now. I’ve had the craziest of crazy weeks and I’ve hardly had time to respond to emails let alone blog… So because I know JP and Stacy are really eager to see their photos I’m not going to write a long write up.

I just have to add their daughter, Sarah is the cutest, most well mannered little girl I have ever met. Love, love, loved doing this shoot.

Late last year… my friend Mandy, whose love shoot I did last year emailed me from Dubai. She’d just received news that her best friend Kylene had gotten engaged here in South Africa. Mandy was so excited and immediately asked me if I had a free weekend so that she could book an engagement shoot for Kylene and Moeneeb as a present. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I quickly checked my diary and saw that I had one available weekend in January. And so their surprise engagement shoot was booked.

I’d never met Kylene or Moeneeb before, but on the day of our shoot, it was like I’d known them all my life. Moeneeb is the epitome of a gentleman and you only have to be in his presence for 5 minutes to know that he is so in love with Kylene. Kylene is so shy… She’s a little nervous in front of the camera but Moeneeb makes sure that she’s comfortable and within 10 minutes everyone was laughing and having so much fun.

The wind was crazy and the little cloud cover we had, had vanished so the sun was quite bright…  I loved this shoot nonetheless.

Moeneeb will be living in Dubai for 2 years… In fact, by the time they read this, he might already have left. I hope that these photos help make the distance and longing a little easier. And that when Moeneeb returns they’ll be more in love than ever before.

Happy Thursday!

Jason and Wendy were my first wedding couple for 2012! And what an amazing way to kick off the year. Jason and the beautiful Wendy tied the knot with an intimate crowd of 30 people.

The highlight of the evening was definitely when Jason whipped out his guitar and serenaded Wendy with a beautiful love song. I loved everything about this wedding. The couple, the venue, the people and it was really such a pleasure to have captured your day.

I arrive at the guest house and she greets me with the biggest smile. She’s so calm and composed, and even without make-up she’s beautiful.

Lyndall married the love of her life Eunick on the 17th Dec 2011 – my last wedding for the year. The entire wedding was set in the forest which was not just magical but breathetakingly gorgeous as well.

Thanks to Nicole Wathen for once again assisting me on the day. A few photos in this blogpost are hers. That’s how awesome she is!

There really is so much I’d love to write about this wonderful couple… I’m having the craziest of crazy days but I still wanted to do this blogpost to share the photos because I know how eager they are to see them…

Carmen and Tobit… The two of you are a beautiful couple and the love you share is evident in everything that you do. The way you look at each other. The way you Tobit hold her hand… and the way Carmen lights up when he’s near is evident even when my camera isn’t pointing in their direction.

Thank you for giving me the pleasure of sharing in your special day. I wish you both all the love and happiness you can handle.

ooooh and HAPPY FRIDAY! :)

The guests start arriving… I walk over to where he sits in the front. Nervously waiting for her to walk down the aisle. Then suddenly there’s silence… “She’s here! She’s here!” I hear someone whisper. I run outside just in time to see her getting out of the car. She grips her fathers arm. He gently squeezes her hand, reassuring her that everything will be ok.

The guests stand up and one by one her bridesmaids enter the church. And then the saxophonist starts to play… Her dad walks her down the aisle. She is the epitome of beautiful. He walks  to meet her half way and patiently waits as her father lifts her veil, kisses her on the cheek and places her hand in his…

This is the beginning of the rest of their lives together.

I am humbled, grateful and honoured to have shared this day with Lee and Lesley Davids. Love, light and laughter on your new journey!
