The waves crashing onto the beach shore, the cool breeze, the crisp salty air and a beautiful bride… The perfect setting, for a perfect wedding. Samantha married the love of her life, on 24th March 2012, on the beautiful west coast. I was the lucky photographer blessed to have been given the honour of capturing the beginning of their happily ever after!
Sean, the groom was overwhelmed with emotion and his nerves got the better of him, and didn’t allow for him to read the vows that he had written. So he kindly asked if I could include them in their blogpost.

Natasha & Avron | Vredenheim

Natasha and Avron tied the knot at the beautiful Vredenheim estate on the 17th March. I had the honour of shooting their wedding. I’ve shot so many weddings and have had so many brides I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever tire of shooting… The answer was easy. No. How can anyone ever tire of being witness to someone else’s love and happiness. Every day that I get to share in someone else’s special day, is a day that I am reminded that amidst all life’s trials and tribulations… love always prevails.

I only met Natasha and Avron one week before their wedding day. I instantly fell in love with their warm nature and sincere personalities. I loved sharing in their special day. Their love for one another is a testament to the fact that despite all adversity, love conquers ALL… all the time!

To my awesome second shooter, Nicole Wathen… You are an amazing person to work with and I’m so excited about your future career in photography!

Wardah & Kashif | lifestyle shoot

Besides for weddings, informal lifestyle shoots are my favourite. I love capturing people’s spontaneity, laughing, having fun and interaction between each other. I’ve always been a people watcher. I could sit in front of a café and watch people pass by for hours… wondering what each one’s story is…

I’m not a fan of shooting people in studio. I’ve always tried to explain to my clients that my job is not to capture a subject, but rather to preserve a moment, a feeling, a reaction and a memory. Wardah and Kashif’s lifestyle shoot was filled with all of those. I loved shooting for them because of how natural and unposed they were in front of my camera.

I walked into the bedroom… and there she was perched on a bar stool, having her makeup done. She’s cool, calm and collected and not at all nervous. She’s been planning this day for months and today it’s finally happening. She’s marrying the love of her life and best friend. She swiftly delegates her bridesmaid their relevant duties to remember. I giggle a little inside… because that’s exactly who she is. Super organised, always on top of things and loves to have things run smoothly. The day had just begun, but already I knew it was going to be nothing short of perfect!

Erin and Fabian got married on the 25th February 2012. Everything that day was absolutely perfect. The food, the people, the weather… It was as if the heavens granted them the most perfect day. It was such an honour to shoot not only two amazing people but also an old friend from primary school’s special day. Fabian… you’ve grown into an amazing man and gentleman.

May your love for Erin grow stronger and deeper each day and may you be blessed with love and happiness always!!!

Illana & Liezel… The twins

Twins… they share a special bond like no other… It is said that twins have a sixth sense only shared between them. I’ve always wanted a twin sister. Secretly… just between you and me… when I was little I would pretend that I had a twin sister. Of course it was tricky keeping up the pretense because I couldn’t be at two places at once and appearing in the same room as my mythical “twin” was impossible… so needless to say I didn’t fool people for to long. (Don’t judge me… I was a weird little girl)

When Illana emailed me enquiring about a shoot for her and her twin sister, I jumped out of my seat! I was so excited to be shooting for them. Illana and Liezel are fraternal twins… That means they don’t look exactly alike – but still share the same bond.

I had so much fun and loved shooting for these awesome ladies. We shot waaaaaay more photos than I’ve uploaded in the blogpost… here however are a few of my favourites.

I.N.F.H… portraits and following your dreams

What do you get when you put five very talented local artists in one room? The answer: An awesome art exhibition! My fiancé Ray and 4 other artists have teamed up to do their very own exhibition! A bunch of FRESH, NEW local talent, is exactly what the art industry needs. I always get really excited when people pursue their dreams… and this case is no exception.

I can’t say to much about this exhibition (even though I’d love to blab all the details right now) but keep your eyes on Blkops creative’s page for details.

JP & STACY | ERINVALE

JP and Stacy are friends of Ray and I… So when he asked me to shoot their wedding I was over the moon! Not only would I have the opportunity to witness two special people unite in matrimony but I’d be able to capture it as well. There’s a lot that I could write about these two amazing people… They’re geniune, kind-heareted, eager to help and always smiling kinda of people. These kind of people are rare to find..

I choked up a little when JP and Stacy said their vows… It really was so beautiful. So instead of writing something about them, I’ve decided with their permission, to share with you their vows.

JP’s vows:
Stacy, I love you. Today is a very special day. Long ago you were just a dream and a prayer. This day like a dream come true the Lord Himself has answered that prayer. For today, Stacy, you as my joy become my crown. I thank Jesus for the honour of going through time with you. Thank you for being what you are to me. With our future as bright as the promises of God, I will care for you, honour and protect you. I lay down my life for you, Stacy, my friend and my love. Today I give to you me.

Stacy’s vows:
Jean-Pierre, I love you and I know you love me. I am confident that God has chosen you to be my husband. It is my prayer and desire that you will find in me the helpmeet God designed especially for you, and in confidence I will submit myself unto your headship as unto our Lord. Therefore, Jean-Pierre, I pledge to you my life as an obedient, faithful and loving wife. Where you go, I will go, Where you stay, I will stay, Your people shall be my people, And your God my God.

Carlo + Michelle | Buitenverwachting

I’m not the most spontaneous person. Don’t get me wrong, I love surprises and from time to time I do a few crazy things… well, just because! But in all honesty, I’m a planner! I love the detail in the planning, knowing all possible outcomes and I like to be prepared for all or any mishaps that might incur…

What I never ever expected was a bride to be calling me ONE day before the time to book me to shoot her wedding! But that’s not the craziest of it all… her entire wedding was planned one day prior. Now if that’s not spontaneous then smack me silly and call me Bob! What amazed me most though, was how beautiful and well planned the whole wedding was… despite it only being planned a day in advance! For that I take my “proverbial hat” off to Michelle, for not only being super woman, but pulling off a stunning wedding!

Wishing you both, love and happiness for the future! Here are a few memories captured on the day!

Dane + Daniela | Morgensrust

I love all my brides… Each and every one of them are special and hold a dear place in my heart. Daniela however… is so dear to me that I can’t help but fight back the tears while writing this.

Daniela emailed me for the first time about two years ago. I had just started my business. I was new, my work was mediocre at best and I was really just an amateur hopeful rookie photographer with my head in the clouds and big dreams. Daniela believed in me then already…

She emailed me one day to let me know that she had been following my work since my very first post and that she knew without a doubt that when she got married one day, I would shoot her wedding. She pops into my inbox from time to time and I must admit that on days when I’m feeling a little less that happy her emails of encouragement, excitement and support bring a smile to my face.

I was very nervous shooting this wedding because I didn’t want to disappoint her in anyway… I recieved the most beautiful email from her on Monday, thanking me for capturing her day. (She hadn’t even seen her photos yet)

Dane and Daniela… it was my privilege and an honour to have been asked to capture your wedding. I wish you all the love and happiness you can both handle and may God continue to bless you on your new journey as husband and wife.

Thousands, millions and billion apologies for only doing this blog post now. I’ve had the craziest of crazy weeks and I’ve hardly had time to respond to emails let alone blog… So because I know JP and Stacy are really eager to see their photos I’m not going to write a long write up.

I just have to add their daughter, Sarah is the cutest, most well mannered little girl I have ever met. Love, love, loved doing this shoot.

Can’t wait to shoot JP and Stacy’s wedding tomorrow!
